A Piece of Home with Hoosier Sister

Last weekend women supporting women provided a slice of health, happiness and home to the people of Carmel, Indiana.

Two sisters, Gretchen and Heidi invited mother and daughter Kiki and Sophia to spotlight the superfood of the ancients- Kefi L!fe extra virgin olive oil in Hoosier Sister’s vintage and timeless boutique shop.

OPA!  Vintage and ancient paired beautifully for a day of shopping home gifts and olive oil.

Home gifts?  Olive Oil?  Each has their own characteristic accenting or improving a house to become a home.

Q: What exactly makes a house a home?

A: The things you find inside, beginning with the people and their favorite stuff.

The people of a home do best when they wake up and retire at night to a peaceful and personal space which nourishes the mind, body and spirit.

Each space is filled with their personal and custom things resembling a lifestyle which energizes and yet soothes and comforts.

Things like pictures of family and friends, aromatic candles, comfy furniture, clean linens, organized cabinets, music, green plants, religious or spiritual objects, vacation memories, favorite throws or pillows, paintings, a thoughtfully and well stocked bathroom and kitchen, and so much more.

Pretty much, home is you.  Whatever makes you and yours happy, secure and vibrant, fill up on this.

Hoosier Sister had plenty of items which could enhance a home.

Look at what I bought:

These are happy and useful items which make my house a home because I love to cook, and I adore entertaining. My goal is to learn how to set the ultimate and most beautiful dining room table and fill it with the most delicious meal and seat the most wonderful friends there to enjoy all of it.

In Greek we call this φιλοξενία – hospitality.

My home is a hospitality home, and therefore I fill it with lots of giving – nourishing items.

Have you taken the time to make your house a home?  It’s never too late, and keep in mind it is a work in progress.

I’m constantly updating, modifying and clearing out my home to match the season of life my family and I are in at the time.

Afterall, “the home should be the treasure chest of living.”  Le Corbusier

Large or small, create a home which is filled with love, good people and things that nourish all of you!

In the meantime, may you be ola kala, all is well in your humble abode.
