Antiquity — Inspiring The Mind & Spirit
For the past 3 weeks I’ve had the breathtaking experience to sail the Greek isles that have left me speechless.
Caught up in the rapture of the beauty of the islands and the glistening crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea I am inspired beyond belief.
However, one cannot escape the historical elegance of antiquity that comes from viewing the timeless monuments on the mainland.
My spirit comes alive when I visit Lion Gate, or main entrance of the Bronze Age in Mycenae in Southern Greece. The grandeur and symbolism reminds me that the Ancient Greeks were brilliant.
In Greek, Πύλη των Λεοτων.
My hike up the rocky hill to the temple of Poseidon was invigorating with every step I took. The reward of the extremely hot endeavor was a mesmerizing gaze atop the sea cliff view of the sparkling Aegean Sea.
Located on Cape Sounion, there is evidence of the sanctuaries as early as 11 century.
Looking at Lindos up close revealed the Greek spirit with 4th century gates and reliefs from about 280 BC. The temple of Athena sits near by. Lindos of Rhodes a treasure to behold.
Strolling the streets of old Plaka in Athens, the oldest city in the world dating back 3400 years ago, whispers the pursuit of excellence and pride. Athens is a nod to the original thought leaders and philosophers Plato, Aristotle and Socrates.
Walking, learning, feeling, loving and viewing relics of antiquity confirm that we as people have immense imagination, intelligence and ingenuity. May the indelible Greek spirit continue to ignite our zeal for a life well lived with Ola Kala All is Well.
In the meantime,
Filakia - kisses
