Kiki’s Top 20 Reads

My daughter Kathryn and I love books.  We buy them all the time.  Sometimes we start reading our books immediately, and other times we put our treasures on the shelf for a later date.

One thing that we both experience is a busy schedule preventing enough time to read.  However, Kathryn shared a productive idea with me, she said, “Mom simply commit to reading 30 pages a day.”

This micro goal is achievable for me, and so the reading goes.

We even learn from our children!

Whatever your schedule or time allotment is, it’s good to read.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF READING

“Reading has many positive health benefits. Reading every day may lead to a longer life, slower cognitive decline, improved sleep, reduced stress, and more.   What you are reading does not even matter. It could be a self-help book, a mystery, or a favorite science fiction series. Reading is an accessible activity. It requires no special equipment other than reading material, and you do not need to acquire a membership or subscription to read. You can do it outdoors, indoors, or in the privacy of your home.”  Laura Barhum

I’d like to share my current top 20 books, which I believe will enhance your life.

WORD TO YOU:

I prefer reading about truth, philosophy and life lessons.  Please by all means, if your preference is science fiction, biographies, mysteries and so on, there are thousands of books in those categories.  Just read what you enjoy, and the time will fly!

ONE MORE THING:

It’s been a while since I was part of a book club, but if you have the time, join one or start one.  A club can be two people or 20 people.  A book club will allow you to exchange ideas about text, learn and bond with people in a setting, which stimulates thought.  Keep Your mind sharp.

"Show me a family of readers, and I will show you the people who move the world." – Napoleon Bonaparte

READING BONUS:

When you are learning or advancing a second language, pick up a book written in that language.  Watch yourself begin to learn more vocabulary, grammar and sentence flow.   I’m enjoying this book, Αγιοσ Πορφυριοσ- Saint Porphyrios, I purchased in Greece.  The words are taking me on a voyage to another place and time.  So fun!

Please get in touch with me kiki@kefilife.com if you want to share a favorite book.

In the meantime,

Happy Reading!

Ola Kala,

Sending you filakia- kisses,

Kiki
