Our Unsung Women Heroes
Happy International Women’s Month.
Yiasas! Welcome back for more Kefi Life inspiration.
Lots to celebrate today. My lovely daughter Sophia has a 25th birthday- Xronia Pollla Happy Birthday - (na eisa kala- may you be well) my wisdom.
We also honor Women’s History Month this March.
Being a woman myself who strives greatly to live well and with purpose, I am thankful for the incredible females before me, ahead of me and with me on this journey called life.
Women are by nature –nurturers, and we are natural leaders. That is why Springtime is a perfect period to honor ladies with the theme “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations.”
All good things blooming in the name of women.
In this blog, I am reminded of females behind the scenes who influence and help others.
This is our topic today. Strong women who make a big difference yet often go unnoticed.
But first if you like my content and it inspires you, please feel free to follow me on insta @kefilife_. Tik tok @kefi life and linked in kikivale for more encouragement and ola kala all is well.
There are many notable and accomplished women all over the world. Women who have achieved tremendous accolades and they are well known.
There are also women who do very important work every day, lifesaving and influential work and they get some, to little recognition.
I’m referring to mothers and teachers and caregivers and yia yias and koumbaras and aunts and cousins and sisters and friends and all the ladies who are patient, brave, loving and kind. How about the women who work the night shift and split shifts, women who work inside and outside of the home. Women who do philanthropy, volunteer and charity jobs-- all in efforts to care for others.
Of all the jobs though, I believe a woman managing a home is the hardest, most demanding, most important job, which I believe many times goes unnoticed.
A home is where every day starts and ends. Home should be a place to escape from the world and feel a sense of security.
A woman has the potential to cultivate a home to fit the needs of everyone dwelling there. A safe zone, in today’s language.
The world can be ugly and strange. A woman can create a home which is beautiful pleasant and peaceful.
Women in the home contribute to healthy and happy children growing up into confident adults who can cope with life.
Mediterranean families and households sometimes have multiple women in the home maintaining an energy of hope and progress.
Historically speaking, a woman in the home provides security for all who dwell there. Remember there is always one person leading the charge. The person who at all costs will go the extra mile for a family member in the home; the glue that keeps it all connected.
The 16th US President of United States of America ABRAHAM LINCOLN understood the indelible role and value of THE influential woman in his life, his mother.
Composer George F. Root who in 1862 published the heartwarming song titled: JUST BEFORE THE BATTLE, MOTHER, embodied a similar sentiment about the woman most important to him.
Just Before the Battle, Mother
by George F. Root
Just before the battle, mother,
I am thinking most of you,
While upon the field we’re watching
With the enemy in view.
Comrades brave are ’round me lying,
Filled with thoughts of home and God
For well they know that on the morrow,
Some will sleep beneath the sod.
Chorus:
Farewell, mother, you may never
Press me to your heart again,
But, oh, you’ll not forget me, mother,
If I’m numbered with the slain.
Oh, I long to see you, mother,
And the loving ones at home,
But I’ll never leave our banner,
Till in honor I can come.
Tell the traitors all around you
That their cruel words we know,
In every battle kill our soldiers
By the help they give the foe.
Chorus
Hark! I hear the bugles sounding,
‘Tis the signal for the fight,
Now, may God protect us, mother,
As He ever does the right.
Hear the “Battle-Cry of Freedom,”
How it swells upon the air,
Oh, yes, we’ll rally ’round the standard,
Or we’ll perish nobly there.
To all my women in this world, if you are managing lives, work, a home and yourself- stay strong.
I understand you!
Stay well and remember you are an angel who makes the world go round. You are loved and appreciated and valued by me.
Thank you for never giving up on the most important thing in life, your home and family. Your role is everlasting and inspirational for generations to come. Happy International Women’s History Month.
PS... it’s never too late to step up and make things right if they are not right at this moment in time.
Sending you filakia - kisses
Ola Kala,
Kiki
