Therapeutic Activities

The power of rest and recovery are not to be overlooked. Regularly participating in these will charge your body battery

Would you agree we all need to recover from time to time, especially post covid, as people are clamoring to make up for lost time?

Attitudes towards life have shifted, and there is bug in the air which permeates unease.  Many causes and reasons for this, but let us remain positive, hopeful and solution oriented.

A viable healing option is to consider holistic and medicinal therapies which release endorphins & relieve discomfort:

BATH TIME - take an Epsom salt bath to relax muscles, relieve pain in the shoulders, neck and back.  The magnesium found in Epsom salts provides the relief and also will increase serotonin levels while allowing you to decompress.  I take an Epsom salt bath every week.

SOAK FEET - soaking your feet will improve circulation, help blood vessels become bigger which will get more blood to your feet.  (You can also add Epsom salts to foot soak)

GROUND YOURSELF -  walk in dirt- sand- grass.  Research suggests that earthing will reduce pain and inflammation and improve overall health.

COOK - this form of therapy promotes overall wellbeing because it improves mental health.  The process of cooking will provide a sense of accomplishment, focus and mindfulness.

GARDEN – I love to garden because I love it.  Beyond that, it’s an activity which reduces stress/cortisol and actually improves sleep. Engaging in the result of gardening especially with produce or herbs, is satisfying and gives you/me feel-good hormones.

WALK ON THE BEACH – science shows that being surrounded in nature, breathing in fresh air and feeling the sand beneath our feet will lead us to overall rejuvenation.  Being in or near the ocean can help regulate your muscles and nerve functionality.

ART THERAPY – the biggest advantage of engaging in art therapy like painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpting etc.. Is that doing these therapeutic activities will foster self-esteem, improve your brain power, cultivate emotional resistance and promote insight to things going on in your life.

WRITE - writing is one of my favorite ways to decompress. I especially adore journaling because it is a tool to release my emotions/ stress from head onto paper. The act of getting my thoughts out of my brain, signal a form of problem solving.   Writing has been proven to allow you, and or me, to express thoughts, feelings and emotions through the words without limitations/interruptions.  Writing creates a mind -body connection because when you take what’s in your brain and use your hand to use a pen and write on paper, both mind and body are activated.

THE POWER OF 8 MINUTES WITH A FRIEND (SIMON SINEK) - Chief Optimist Simon Sinek developed this incredible therapy to help a person when they need to talk to a friend about a pressing problem which is time sensitive. “When poop hits the fan,” so to speak, you dedicate short, focused periods of a connection with a friend or loved one. Text your person and write...I need 8 minutes.

PET THERAPY - is an instant mood booster. This is as simple as playing with animals, hugging and petting them to get you to relax and feel love. Pets, especially dogs, love unconditionally permeating a sense of confidence and security.

MUSIC THERAPY – can be a clinical therapy and is an evidenced based intervention to enhance memory, improve circulation, alleviate pain, manage stress and promote how you are feeling.

Friends in Kefi, believe and engage in meaningful, helpful and relieving holistic – therapeutic therapies to renew your mind, body and spirit.
