Fall Activities
The fall season is upon us!
A time of harvest and gathering.
It’s a time of nurturing yourself, movement and caring for your lungs.
It’s my pleasure to explore with you, fall activities which support these.
The lungs. We need our lungs to be healthy in order to bring oxygen into our bodies. If you can’t breathe you die. What is one way to keep those almighty lungs healthy and well? Hiking is a perfect option.
Hiking is a great fall activity to do because as you are viewing some of the prettiest landscapes and you simultaneously increase lung strength.
According to the National Institute of Health, your breath increases 40-60 times per minute to keep your muscles working while hiking, when in a resting state you breathe an average of only 15 times per minute. The more you get out and walk or hike, the more improved your lung capacity can become. Nice to know.
I have hiked in Arizona, Illinois and various cities in Greece. My preference is to learn about history as I hike. My suggestion is to hike in places that inspire you.
Movement in all seasons is crucial to your wellbeing. You can move leisurely, and of course you can get that body in motion for purposes of fitness.
In the fall, it makes sense to take that body outdoors and be active in the fresh, crisp and cool air.
Visiting a pumpkin patch is an excellent place to move it and participate in fall activities. Some pumpkin patches like the most popular one in Illinois, Bengston’s Fall Fest - Pumpkin Patch is like a seasonal family wonderland.
Here you will enjoy live music, a petting zoo, rides, fall treats, pumpkins of every size and of course hay rides.
Something about hay rides and hay stacks that automatically get you excited about fall. Did you know that hay is a result of harvesting dry grass.
Gathering, associated with harvesting, can be done when you gather with your friends, family and people which you have not seen in a long while.
Gather around the firepit to roast marshmallows, or gather around the Agape table to break bread and eat a delicious meal. These fall gatherings are a wonderful way to create memories.
What’s a food you think of in the fall? I think of hearty, warm and yummy soups.
Soups are comforting, nourishing and fun. Making soups is another fall activity to do with a group of friends.
Let’s remember to nourish ourselves in the fall.
Which activities can nourish all of you this fall season? I recommend taking care of your skin. Your skin is the largest organ in the human body. It covers the entire external surface and skin has the very important job of synthesizing vitamin D. Vitamin D supports bone health and immune function.
Care for your skin by drinking plenty of water for hydration, eating healthy and using a moisturizer.
The Kefi L!fe team created the Basil and Orange Body Butter perfect for moisturizing your skin to keep it healthy, smooth and supple. For your face use the NEW Under Eye Refresher to keep skin under eyes hydrated, reducing puffiness.
This fall, your activities should inspire you mentally, physically and spiritually to be ola kala- all is well.
And, in the end, all is well, when you enjoy what you are doing with those you love.
Happy fall!
Ola kala
